Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask Review

Swatch of Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey MaskAntipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask is a creamy, hydrating mask that smells absolutely wonderful.  One of the first ingredients is manuka honey, which is a great humectant, meaning that it draws moisture to the skin.  It is also antibacterial and antimicrobial, so it can be really helpful for acne as well.  It does contain essential oils of vanilla and mandarin, so if you can’t use products with any fragrant ingredients at all, then this isn’t for you.  It’s too bad really, the product would certainly be improved without the essential oils since it mostly just smells like honey anyway.

Ingredients: Aqua (water), leptospermum scoparium mel (manuka honey), persea gratissima (avocado oil), glycerine, cetearyl alcohol, stearic acid, glycerol stearate, gluconolactone, sodium benzoate, calcium gluconate, vitis vinifera (Vinanza Grape grapeseed) extract, daucus carota sativa (carrot oil), metrosideros excelsa (pohutukawa) flower extract, tocopherol (Vitamin E), essential oil fragrances of vanilla & mandarin: coumarin*, d-limonene*, linalool*.             *Component of essential oil.

I have used almost my whole tube (which is 2.5oz), and I’ve really enjoyed this mask.  My main use for it has been hydration, so I can’t really speak to its effectiveness as an acne treatment.  The texture of the mask is really creamy, so it kind of feels like applying moisturizer if you use your hands.  Just be sure to apply a fairly thick layer, since it really soaks in when you leave it on for 20 minutes or so.  If your skin is really dry, it may absorb all that you apply.

I highly recommend this mask, it has been effective for me and I’ve experienced no negative reactions of any kind.  You also get a lot of applications from the 2.5oz tube, which retails for $35-40USD.

Antipodes is a natural, mostly organic, cruelty free brand based in New Zealand.
