Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick Review

This stick foundation has completely converted me to stick foundation.  I love it so much.  Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation stick looks like real skin with a very natural finish.  It’s creamy and blendable without being greasy.  It layers well over various types of skincare products.  It comes in a really excellent range of shades.  It hasn’t caused any kind of breakouts or reaction on my skin.  It’s also fragrance free and silicone free.  What’s not to like?  Well, Bobbi Brown isn’t a cruelty free brand, unfortunately.  Nor are the products particularly eco friendly.  But I’m willing to overlook that because this stuff is just so good.

Ingredients: Glyceryl Triacetyl Ricinoleate, Octyldodecanol, Bis-diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Polyethylene, Ozokerite, Kaolin, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Barium Sulfate, Bisabolol, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, [+/- Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Mica]

I was hesitant to try this for a long time.  In the past, I have tried stick foundations before and they always made me break out, or they were super greasy.  This one is neither of those things.  It has a really lovely texture that I swipe on directly from the stick in stripes across my face (photo below).  Then I blend it out with  my Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face brush.  The brush blends the foundation out to a light to medium coverage.  If I want really sheer coverage, I’ll use my tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation brush.

As I mentioned, the finish is quite natural looking, so it’s neither matte nor shiny.  If your skin is very oily, it may not be matte enough for you.  I just put a matte finishing powder on top and that works well for me.  With setting powder, I generally won’t need to do any touch-ups (oil blotting) for 4-6 hours.  But I would say my skin is combo oily, not very oily.  Also, if your skin is very acne prone, the waxes in the formula may cause some issues with breakouts.  But I haven’t experienced any, and I’m about two thirds of the way through the stick.

I would also like to mention that this is one of the best shade matches I have ever found for my skin.  My skin is pretty fair and quite on the cool toned side of the spectrum, so most foundations look really yellow on me.  This one does not.  My shade is 2.25 Cool Sand.  My favourite thing about Bobbi Brown’s Skin Foundation Stick is that it just looks like good skin.
