May Lindstrom Skin The Blue Cocoon Beauty Balm Concentrate Review

May Lindstrom Skin The Blue Cocoon Beauty Balm Concentrate is a spectacular product.  I read so many rave review on other blogs and so I procrastinated on getting a deluxe sample for a long time because I was afraid of liking it.  But guess what, it’s amazing.  So amazing that I am actually willing to consider dropping over $160USD on one jar of it.

This product is a solid in the jar and is a beautiful shade of blue (from the blue tansy oil).  But once you scoop out a very small pea sized amount and place it in your hand, it begins to melt into an oil that you can then massage into your skin.  The May Lindstrom website says it melts into a “fluid potion”, a fantastic term that aptly describes the Blue Cocoon.  It doesn’t soak in immediately, especially if you have put on other serums and such underneath.  But you will wake up with gorgeous, exceptionally well hydrated, soothed, calm, clear skin.

Camellia Seed Oil is the first ingredient.  It’s rich in vitamins A, B, D, and E, as well as omega fatty acids and antioxidants.  The Yangu, Baobab, and Marula oils are all sourced from African plants and contain high concentrations of vitamins and antioxidants as well.

Ingredients: * Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil, *** Butyrospermun Parkii (Shea) Butter, *** Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter, *** Sclerocarya Birrea (Virgin Marula) Oil, Calodendrum Capense (Yangu) Oil, * Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Oil, * Tanacetum Annuum (Blue Tansy) Oil, **Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh) Oil, * Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, ** Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense) Oil, * Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium Rose) Oil, * Vanilla Planifolia CO2 Total Essential Oil, Schisandra Sphenanthera CO2 Fruit Extract, * Helichrysum Italicum (Immortelle) Oil, Ravensara Aromatica Oil.

* Certified Organic ** Wild Harvested *** Fair Trade, Raw & Unrefined

The scent of this product is lovely.  The formula contains no added fragrance, only that of the natural ingredients.  I find that it smells mostly like the cacao seed butter. But there is a a hint of vanilla and the other essential oils.  So it smells kind of chocolatey, which I’m certainly not complaining about.  It smells good enough to eat.

I love that May Lindstrom products are all natural, organic, fair trade, and cruelty free.  It’s so great to see more and more brands putting emphasis on ethical ingredient sourcing and producing environmentally and socially conscious products.  Products that focus on these factors don’t usually come cheap.  But in my experience, they are usually exceptional products made with the highest quality ingredients with absolutely no filler.  Plus, in the case of the Blue Cocoon, you use such a small amount that the jar is likely to last for at least 4-6 months.

I highly recommend May Lindstrom’s Blue Cocoon beauty balm.  It’s an amazing product that I have fallen in love with in only a week.
