The Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask is a very effective, pore clearing mask. The charcoal and clay it contains help to draw out dirt, impurities, and pollutants from pores to deeply clean your skin. I like using it once a week or so, but not more often than that since it tends to be a bit drying. After application, it dries on to your face and tightens up, and sometimes you can actually see dots on the dry mask where it has been drawing crap out of your pores. It can be really satisfying to actually see the stuff being pulled out of your skin.
Ingredients: Water, Myrtus Communis (Myrtle) Leaf Water, Kaolin, Bentonite, Butylene Glycol, Montmorillonite, Polysorbate 20, Peg-100 Stearate, Charcoal Powder, Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, Peg-150 Distearate, Propylene Glycol Stearate, Sorbitan Laurate, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol Laurate, Simethicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Trisodium Edta, Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol.
This mask is probably a good option for sensitive and reactive skin, since it contains primarily natural ingredients, and doesn’t contain fragrance or essential oils. One thing I don’t particularly like about Origins is that they are not a cruelty free brand. Neither is their parent company, Estee Lauder. This is because they sell their products in China, where animal testing is required by law. But other than that, this is a pretty good mask that seems to be effective. I like it enough that I have purchased it several times.
