Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser Review

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser is one of those super popular cult favourite items that  I had to think about and research for awhile before actually trying it.  Most super popular products don’t work out well for me.  This, however, worked really well when I first tested it out a few years ago.  It was quite a pleasant surprise.

The milky formula doesn’t really foam up, but removes makeup amazingly well without drying out your skin.  It even does a decent job of removing waterproof eye makeup.

Interestingly, the ingredients list is chock full of ingredients with the potential to irritate sensitive skin (cinnamon, pepper, rose, urea, etc), but somehow it doesn’t irritate mine at all.  I really don’t understand how that’s possible.  But it actually contains several ingredients I normally stay away from (and now know that I’m allergic to).   So if you are super sensitive then you may still want to stay away from this product.  But it may be worth trying, since it doesn’t seem to cause any reactions on my skin.

Ingredients: Water, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Coco-Glucoside, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Alcohol, Peg-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Guaiacum (Guaiacum Officinale) Extract, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Rosa Damascena Extract, Amyris Balsamifera Bark Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Cinnamomum Cassia Leaf Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Piper Nigrum (Pepper) Seed Extract, Polysorbate 20, Glycerin, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Citric Acid, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Yellow 5 (Ci 19140).

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser is one of my go-to options when I run out of cleanser and I’m away from home and don’t have time to research something new.  Or if my skin is going crazy and I need something I KNOW won’t cause any reactions.  Bottom line:  it’s super effective at cleansing.  But I’ve since found other cleansers that remove makeup just as effectively and are more natural and a little more gentle on my delicate visage.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser is widely available at a pretty reasonable price.  Bottles come in 3, 8, 16, and even 24 oz sizes with prices ranging from $11 to $55 USD.  Find it at Nordstrom, Sephora, Ulta, QVC and literally so many other places around the internet.  You can get this stuff anywhere.  Hence why it’s my go-to backup cleanser.
