Paula’s Choice Clear Regular Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution With 2% Salicylic Acid (boy that’s a mouthful…) is an excellent beta-hydroxy acid exfoliant for those dealing with acne or clogged pores. Just apply it to a cotton pad and swipe across your skin after cleansing and then let it soak in a few minutes before layering serums/moisturizers on top.
If you’re looking for a lighter version of the Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid (full review HERE), this is the perfect option for you. This water-light BHA exfoliant is incredibly effective, expertly formulated, and safe for use on sensitive skin. There are no irritating alcohols or fragrances in this product. Nor are there any of the other usual culprits that can cause irritation in acne sufferers (camphor, menthol, citrus extracts etc). Plus, it is at the optimal pH for salicylic acid to work properly (3.5 – 4). Paula’s Choice exfoliating products really are the cream of the crop. She just knows how to do it right.
In addition to salicylic acid, the product contains some skin replenishing and soothing ingredients as well, like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, allantoin and vitamin B5.

I have to admit, I’m a bit more partial to the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid. It does have that slight bit of greasiness, but I don’t mind. It has a slightly lower pH, and so there is a little more free acid available for exfoliating. I just find that it works a little bit better for me. This is a tad more gentle. So this will be the best choice if you are more sensitive or new to salicylic acid products. I think I’ll try the Clear Extra Strength next, and see how that works for me. I tend to prefer a more aggressive approach to blemish control.
Despite my preference for a different Paula’s Choice BHA exfoliant, this product is awesome. It will make a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a salicylic acid liquid exfoliant. There are very few on the market formulated as well as this one, and nearly all of them are made by Paula’s Choice. You can’t go wrong with any of her exfoliating products.
Paula’s Choice Clear Regular Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution with 2% Salicylic Acid is available in a 4oz bottle for $27USD from Nordstrom, DermStore, or Amazon
